Dorcas Thrift shop on Maynard road is good (lots of cheap stuff, some nice pieces as well. And I have never found anything there overpriced). It is small so they don't have a TON of stuff, but last time I was there they had a good deal of furniture. Goodwill in Cary had some stuff too (Kilmayne).

Of course Craigslist free section has lots of "crappy" fixable stuff.

What about one of those places that sells used hotel furniture? Or community yard sales? Many post a list of items ahead of time.
