Hi,
My fiancee and I are hoping to find a venue in the peidmont region for our wedding ceremony and reception. We are specifically interested in an area on a Lake, hoping to have an outdoor wedding ceremony and an Indoor reception at the same location (about 100-150 guests). We are also hoping to be able to bring our own catering and alcohol to save a little money. The only one I have really been able to find so far was lake johnson, but theirr indoor area, looks a little too small. Anybody know of any locations?
Thank you soo much for any help!!

Camp New Hope in Chapel Hill has an outdoor area by pond/lake. Then they have facilities you can use if you want the reception in doors.

Check out Spruce Pine Lodge in Bahama (Durham Parks and Rec). On a bluff overlooking Lake Michie, pretty place, beautiful old log lodge. It will fit 100 indoors easily, with 150 pushing it, depending on how you set up the inside. Great place if you are on a budget.

I second Spruce Pine Lodge. My momma got married there years ago and a friend just fot married there. DH and I looked into having our wedding there, but opted for a destination wedding at the beach.

One thing that you need to remember when looking at places is that parks (state and county) have alcohol laws. I think that at Spruce Pine, you have to have an off duty police officer at the venue the entire time you have alcohol for your guests.

If I may... does it have to be a reception venue? DH and I rented a beach house for our venue... why not do the same, but at the lake?
High Rock Lake town lake vacation house rental, CyberRentals property 139791

Rent for the weekend of your wedding about $400.00... for the week 800.00... many venues would cost you that much. Granted, you wouldn't have waiters or people cleaning up afterwards, but you would be able to do what you wanted and how you wanted.... and I know that wedding can be done tastefully without breaking the bank,

Lightbulb Angus Barn

First off, I am a guy, so you can take this with a grain of salt...

Have you checked out the new Angus Barn wedding area? I think it is a man made lake, but it looks pretty sweet
