I'm getting married in June and am trying to decide what to give as wedding favors. I don't want to give Jordan almonds or something like that; while cute, I just feel like it's over-done. Ideally, I'd like to give something "North Carolina," since I am having a lot of out-of-town guests and I've lived in NC most of my life. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with an idea and I was hoping someone here would have a good suggestion. I'm looking for something that is specifically North Carolina, either something that only exists here or means something specifically to NC. It also needs to be relatively inexpensive, since there will be about 150 guests. Suggestions?

Lightbulb Grits?

A couple in a wedding we went to years ago gave out Grits.... a quick google search found the following:

Canvas Bags / Pack of 12 : Unique Wedding Favors - Wedding Reception Favors - Bridal Shower Favors

Just a thought.

Thoughts of My Cousin Vinny are coming back to me right now.

I have heard of people giving out Krispy Kreme donuts as favors. Thought that was cute.

A southern season in chapel hill has a large "nc" section that may be able to give you some ideas of typical north carolina items. They have a wide variety of items from cheese straws to peanuts to grits.......

They also have tins filled with sugar cookies that look like a tarheel, and a description of why NC is called the tarheel state. You could buy the tins, individually wrap the cookies in a nice package and insert (or have on the tables) the information of why NC is called the tarheels.........

Don't know if you could do something with a BBQ theme- BBQ sauce bottles with pretty ribbons or something (might be hard to take back on a plane for guests, though?) Might be able to buy a case or get quantity discount. Another idea- cookie cutters in the shape of the state or tarheel with attached recipe for cookies.

I had a great experience with NC specific cookie wedding favors that were a big hit with particularly the out-of-town guests. This is the link to the company that provided them but they can do just about any design you would like. They had lots of great ideas for us to choose from and the cookies were delicious too. http://www.carolinabuttercupbakery.com

Texas Pete, Carolina Treat BBQ Sauce and Bone Sucking Sauce are all good gifts. All made in NC. Cheerwine is unique and from NC.

Default Goodness Gracie cookies

Snack bags of these cookies cost $42 for 12 snack bags, or about $550 for you guest list size. They offer a variety of cookie flavors, nuts, and other snacks too - each in a different colored bag.

i agree with A Southern Season, or local product such as Bone Suckin' Sauce. Also, the small tins of Moravian cookies are good. You could have them placed in a nice bag with a wedding tag on it.

Wrap any of these with pretty white organza lace and ribbon, and you have a North Carolina winner:

hunk of barbecue (pork)
pack of cigarettes
Nascar tickets
cotton balls
a big sweet potato
