I remember the tobacco smell, too. My uncle grew Burley (not flue cured) in SW Va and I always loved driving through downtown Durham 'cause it reminded me of him. Never smoked, but it was a great smell. I'm not sorry it's been replaced by the wonderful smell of local food, though!
