Has anyone noticed the blue folded tarp filled with leaves on the LH side of the road traveling north on 440, just past the Western Blvd. exit? Starting to wonder how long it's going to be there! Been there for several months now.
Took the family to Beaufort and back this weekend and marveled (with a side order of disgust) at how trash-filled and putrid our roadsides look. I know this is beating an old horse, and I DO participate in company roadside cleanups, but what the heck is the governor thinking with this neglectful attitude? It's almost May 1st!
Here's my "up north" comment for dessert:
I used to think the area around Boston was trashy (I grew up in the suburbs). I will give the DPW credit where it is due: The medians and shoulders and planting areas up there are pristine compared to the Raleigh area. One of my biggest peeves about this area is the total exposed "landfill" motif on display on all the major roads around here. At least after the snow melted in New England, the crews were out in force cleaning up everything. Go ahead and tell me to go back there, I'll say "don't tempt me"!!
Anyway, that's my theme-specific rant of the day and I feel better now. Thank you.
It will be there a long time.Sad but true. This is the norm here. Our roads are polluted, and it's accepted. Those that don't believe it are in denial. What has been interesting as of late,is the orange bags that now take so long,(sometimes a month or more) to pick up that they fade in color sitting on the side of the road becoming litter itself.
Maybe if they pick up that tarp, they can pick up the Rubbermade tub toppled over a few hundred yards back...it has been there for a couple of months as well.
Seems to be a lot of people on the job being neglectful with their belongings. Yes there are 'everyday' people throwing out their lunch and cups, but the big pieces of trash on the roads are construction/occupation related.
