The Western Wake Farmers Market, although small, is very varied and is open Saturdays from 8-12. It is set up on the grounds of Carpenter Village, on Morrisville-Carpenter Rd. just west of Davis Drive in Cary.

They not only have plants and veggies but a fabulous German bakery lady, vendors of coffee, wine, fresh seafood, every kind of meat, honey, some crafts and lots of good herbs and other stuff to eat. Like I said: small, cozy and pretty good.

Sort of - not the individual vendors, but you can buy wooden tokens to spend with the vendors.

There is a small farmer's market at Falls River in North Raleigh. It's Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings only (although they leave the signs out a lot longer than that, tricking me!!)

I think a number of smaller farmers markets have opened with odd or weekday hours as a way of attracting strong vendors who are otherwise committed to larger markets during prime weekend hours, or to take advantage of times when the farmers already need to be in the area for CSA drop-offs, etc. So I can see how one might get the impression that a lot of markets are during the week, when in fact they are just getting out of the way of the bigger, more established ones (the main Raleigh market = open 7 days/week but peak vendors on weekends, Durham = Sat mornings, Carrboro = Sat mornings, etc.) So as pps have said, there are plenty of weekend markets, though they may not be the ones closest to you.

Yes. This article in the Chapel Hill News (http://www.chapelhillnews.com/2010/04/21/56426/market-takes-plastic-starting.html - broken link) mentions that the Western Wake program is also involved in the program.

There's a small farmer's market at North Hills on Saturdays until noon in Raleigh:

Events at North Hills · Farmers’ Market at North Hills Returns (http://www.northhillsraleigh.com/news/events/?p=28 - broken link)

Last year, they had live music at the same time, which made it fun. I don't know if they have music this year.
