Our neighbors who are quite nice, but quirky decided that today (Sunday / Mother's day) was a good day for their handyman crew to come over and do brickwork in their backyard.

We are outside trying to enjoy our back deck on this lovely day and had to listen to the noise of all this work.

We went over and politely asked them to stop - which they did.

Made us wonder - are there any cary laws that say you can't have work done (noise, etc...) on a Sunday?

The noise ordinance is at the bottom of this webpage:
Town of Cary Film/Video/Photography Policy (http://www.townofcary.org/Departments/Administration/pio/Town_of_Cary_Film_Video_Photography_Policy.htm - broken link)

I think individuals can work in their lawns on Sunday from 9AM to 9PM if the dB level is below a certain threshold. "No construction work is allowed on Sundays"...anyway- I'll let you read it!

What you did is best though- ask them to stop. (and thank goodness they did!) Too many people around here are so fast to just call police instead of talking with their neighbors.

Interesting to see that on the books but not suprising considering the area we live in. Just seems a bit unfair that Sunday is singled out since there are religions who celebrate on Saturday.
