We have neighbors who go there and LOVE it. We live quite close. We have applied 2 years in a row and have twice gotten in at the bottom of the waitlist. My 10 year old is #11 for the 5th grade waitlist but the first 5 on that list are siblings or teacher's kids so I don't have hopes for getting in. I love that it goes to 8th grade as I would love my kids to go through middle school in a smaller, closer environment.
We got in through the lottery last year for 1st grade and we did not love it. We dropped out, but there was nothing "wrong" with it. It was just not a good fit for my child. We know lots of others who really like it.
I have 2 kids attending Sterling and this is our 2nd year. We absolutely love it. The academics are challenging, as each child progresses at his pace. My 2nd grader has mastered multiplication and long division. My older was in 2nd grade at Apex Elementary & they didn't even teach them any multiplication. Big differences in all areas. The only downfall is having to drive them every day. Parents also must log a certain amount of volunteer hours every year. We have quite a few after school clubs also. I strongly recommend, but there is a waiting list. I think kindergarten is 175 deep and 1st grade is around 75. The waiting list is on their website.
