Are there any places in the Triangle that sell fixtures and such? My house fixtures are all late-90's polished brass and I want to change them out. Looking for a good selection at discount prices. I found a few places on the web, but would rather support a local business.

I also need to replace alot of my builder lights. I visited one store and most of the items I liked where in their catalog and at a much higher price than the web. Lights are one of those things that it is better to see in person. I am sick of home depot and lowes.

You can try Lights Unlimited and House of Lights. Various locations throughout the Triangle.

House of Lights is a cool place and has quite the variety.

We always enjoyed shopping (and donating to) the Habitat for Humanity Reuse Store. We didn't usually buy light fixtures (because they were just like the ones we were removing), but many other home improvement items are there!

I sent ALL my brass fixtures to the Habitat for Humanity Reuse Store. Not sure if you'll find anything else besides brass light fixtures there but they always have a great variety of other things.

Ugh me too. I actually have brought home dozens of types of knobs from Lowe's and Home Depot and we haven't found one that we like for the kitchen yet. Would love a third/etc cabinet hardware choice.

For the light fixtures I'm going to attempt to repaint one and see how it goes. They're constantly doing it on HGTV and making it sound so easy

I also got a Delta faucet on ebay I looked at in person at an local overpriced plumbing supply. I spray painted my brass light fixtures with Rustoleum Hammered Copper spray.

We changed out all the kitchen and bath knobs in our house too. I also bought on ebay. A few weeks after I purchased the knobs, I saw the same one's at Lowe's for $2 more per knob. Even with shipping, I ended up saving about $80. For lighting and ceiling fans, we ended up going to Lowe's. They had a great selection and the prices were reasonable.
