My pediatrician does not charge for after hours calls, but when you call her after hours, you get the UNC Nurse Line, not our doctor. I would rather talk to our pediatrician when I'm worried enough to call after hours, but probably not enough to pay for it.
I just remembered that when our office upped the price for after hours calls they gave us a sheet reminding us that most insurance companies have free 24 hour nurse lines as well, along with the phone numbers for the most popular insurance companies represented in the practice. So that's another route to consider.
