The movers left our house in Mass on a Friday evening- they were in NC on the following Tuesday morning. They had another small job on the same truck. They did the packing and loading quicker than planned. The movers should be able to tell you the earliest they would be arriving. Good luck with the move and make sure you have plenty of cold drinks on hand for the movers on the NC end- it is HOT here!!

Default Drive time

From what I have heard it is about 11 hours to get to Morrisville from Framinhgam. We are leaving next Friday or Saturday depending on how long it takes the movers to pack the truck. We plan on taking 2 days since we have 2 cats,my husband and myself and our 2 daughters (luckily they are 18 and 20) and we will be towing a trailer with hubby's motorcycle and stuff we need immediately in it.

The moving truck left our house here in Milford, NH this Sundday and was in NC on Tuesday. My wife and I are driving down with the dog, and boys (7 and 4) towing a small trailer with stuff the movers would not take. One of the items that we move are the plants: ficus trees, Christmas pines, etc. What a pain!

So you didn't need to be there to meet the moving truck when it arrived in NC? Is your stuff going into a house or into storage?

We will be taking advantage of the free rent too! We do not have a house yet so we'll be moving to corporate housing in Chapel Hill. We will need most of our stuff to go into storage but will probably need some of it in the temporary place so I'm not sure how we are going to work out the logistics. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that we don't take too long to find a house.

We are taking the free rent route also but we are staying in Morrisville. We have thought about Wake Forest alot to look at houses. Do you know how the drive will be to RTP? My husband usually rides his motorcycle to work and leaves very early so I am thinking Wake Forest might not be too bad of a commute. We didn't get to look there very much when we were down for a visit and we didn't have the time to do a second visit so we will be aggressively looking for a house.

This Fidelity move sounds so much like when IBM was moving so many people to RTP, years ago!

Sounds like most employees got a great package if you can live free for a month or so! And they paid for your move! What a great company!!!

We live in wake forest and my husband commutes to rtp, used to do it on the motorcycle. If you choose to live in wake forest, your commute will be better to rtp if you live on the west side of town (wake forest is split by capital blvd to the east and the west). The west side of town gives you the ability to access durham road (also known as 98) and the back way to the park (probably about 30 minutes). It is a much nicer route via motorcycle than capital to 540. The houses on the west side, for the most part have more land (but can be a tad more expensive)

Anyhow, pm me if you have any more wake forest questions.

Leigh
