Looks like we're finally moving to Rapid City. We'll be loading a truck down here and heading up there early December. Is there an organization or a group of college kids that would assist us in unloading the truck? I could do it myself, but at my age I'd prefer not to. Thanks in advance.

I just moved from Rapid City and was unable to find any company that loaded trucks. Uhaul says they do but they were not of any help.

Not sure if boys club would do anything like that. Or a church youth group maybe. But I am drawing a big ol' blank. I unloaded the horse trailer all by myself.. The dogs were to busy playing.

Call the Employment Office and ask for "Day Labor". There are always a lot of people signed up wanting jobs and will work "Full Time, Part Time, or Day Labor".

Either that or check a temp service for the same thing.

You could also call the school of Mines and Tech and just ask - a local frat or club might help you out for a community service project etc (or for beer and pizza )

My husband and I will hopefully be moving there in December too! I have my final interview with the hospital there on Monday! We wont be there till after December 20th or I would offer my assistance. We will not know anyone and I think it would be a great way to make a new friend. Good Luck and God Bless

Ah, holiday moves - they can be hard - thing is though, they are the ones you will remember most vividly and the family comes out the other end a bit stronger!

We found help for our move-in. I called a number of moving companies, but they would not unload unless they loaded. It's a liability thing, I guess. I was given the name of "North Western Storage" at 1-888-562-7880. They will have someone to help us unload the truck. They charge $35/hr for each worker. Two workers will be what we need for two hours. That'll be worth it for us as our place is on the 3rd floor. There is also Day Labor, but you're getting general labor, not furniture movers. We are so excited to finally be moving to Rapid. It will great to have a Christmas in winter weather like we did in Wisconsin. We have missed it for 11 years! Thanks all of you for your ideas and comments.
