I am moving to SD in April. I will be working at the VA in Hot Springs and would like to live in Rapid City because I would like to be in the city. I would consider living midway, but I really didn't find any rentals midway between Hot Springs and Rapid City. How is the commute from Rapid City to Hot Springs?

It is about 60 miles one way. Four lane roads all the way.

It is an easy commute on good roads. I live in Hot Springs so I drive it frequently. Depending on where in Rapid you start, the drive should not take more than an hour.

uh

Hot Springs is not closing. There will be some areas expanded and some moved. Don't know all the specifics at this time.

The current planning/exploring is an economic impact statement for the local community. Obviously the proposed cutbacks would have a negative economic impact on a community as small as Hot Springs. Consequently it will be a negative for those who would like to close the hospital. I am not sure when the statement is supposed to be completed.

The reason I asked is because the latest I had read is that Rapid City was going on with expansion plans. The article talked about Hot Spring shutting down the medical hospital because it was just to out dated and too expensive to upgrade. Much cheaper to build new and if they did build new, it was going to be in Rapid City. It also mentioned taking part of the medical building and expanding the DOM and nursing facility.

Would All-Season tires suffice for the daily roundtrip (Mon-Fri) drive from Rapid City to Hot Springs?
