As my potential move inches forward (virus slowing down) I wanted to see if anyone had a Tesla in Rapid City. My wife and I bought a new dual engine Model S. It's a ton of fun. Actually, 2.5 tons of fun as the battery makes it a heavy car. While I think the weight will be good for ice driving, I realize I have no idea how the cold will affect the battery. Also, I don't see anyplace nearby where it could be serviced if something goes wrong. There's a set of 4 superchargers at Rushmore Mall....but that's about it.
I'd rather not give it up if I don't need to. Wondering if anyone there has one and how it's handled for them/if there's a way to get repairs if needed.
They are rare here. There might be a dozen or so cars in the area. Not sure how repairs would work. Spearfish has some super chargers and the ones at the mall in Rapid.
I haven't seen one, but I am not sure I would recognize one if I did.
You can't see them because they're really fast.
We'll move in stages. Wife says the Tesla doesn't come until she does....so I guess I'm stuck with the Lexus hybrid.
I'm not really sure what will need to be fixed on these. So many of the systems are not there. It's a giant battery attached to a computer with wheels. So no oil changes or gas. The supercharging works pretty quickly. Generally plug it in, grab something to eat and it's done. I have another post in the auto forum and apparently there's a Tesla group in SD. So I've searching for it.
Tesla has remote service. It sounds like they would send out a technician. How many issues can be resolved remotely or with a WiFi connection.
I would imagine most. It will be when a component goes that it becomes problematic I think. To be honest, the drop off delivery was underwhelming. Like....here's the most expensive non-house thing you ever bought....if you want to learn how to use it, check out YouTube. While it has been fairly intuitive, I really don't want to find out what can go wrong 40 miles south of Williston in January.

Anywhere between Belle Fourche and the Canadian boarder it is pretty desolate.

It always was. I used to live in the State in the Janklow days. Even with the oil boom, I can't imagine too much has changed. Lucky for me, Ebay claims they have everything and can sell me "Tesla service in South Dakota."
I think both. He was around my entire life. I left in 96. He was always a something or other.
