Thanks so much. I have lived in Northern Wisconsin, Chicago and burbs and Southern Minnesota.
I am excited about South Dakota, but also a tad nervous. I will be alone most likely my first year. Family will stay in Illinois while I get my work done.
Thanks for your help. My interview is Tuesday.
We also had a big snowstorm on May 6th in 2004. Maybe it's every 4 years!
Oh yeh I remember that one too. I had just gotten to South Dakota at the end of January in 2004. Nothing like a hey welcome to South Dakota here's a big Moderator cut: word removed snowstorm!!! Hey at least the base was closed for a couple days...lol

I lived in South Dakota by myself for the first couple years. It's not too bad if you get out and find stuff to keep you busy. I kept busy trying to learn where everything was and what exactly there was to do in the Rapid City/Black Hills area. Good luck with the interview!
If one gets involved and stays busy, life in South Dakota is not too bad. If one gets bored easily, South Dakota is not the place. I like the slower pace of life compared to other parts of the country, but manage to keep myself busy (sometimes too busy).
oh well..I was number two and number one took the job. so I guess I will be looking again.
I did make it to the great city...actually I found the STATE pretty nice.
The sun was always shining and wow were the people friendly and service great in the area.
I'm sorry to hear that. Guess it just wasn't the spot you were supposed to be at. The right one will come along and I wish you luck. It's good to know you found it friendly here.
