Astounding Thread. It provides a stranger with the feel of growing up in a plains city. Thanks, GregW

My comment is, 1973 was about the most wild year i ever remember besides the chaos of the State "A" basketball tournaments.
The summer of 1973, 8th street was so packed full of muscle cars until 2-3 a.m., racing night after night after night, big burn outs, all big horse power muscle, it was lit up like Broadway Strip ,N.Y. all night long!
Parking up in Taylor's Restaurant parking lot, lining up to go up on top of the Flats to go race.
Hope some fantastic memories lay some good rubber down right here!!
This is where they really should have filmed the real "American Graffiti "

Colonial House moving down the block. The top end of 8th street all jacked up. The project was needed. One more week of me fighting that mess to get to work.
The days of cruising only a memory now.

Members of Asia (kind of the house band at the Barbarian), including Messers. Coates, English, and Galbraith, were formerly in other bands such as Free Flite (Roger Groethe, Larry Galbraith, Pete Diggins, Mark Parkinson, Don Dudley), White Wing (Mike Coates, Mike English, Tim Renshaw on keyboards for a studio album), and the Shells of Time (Mike English and who knows?). I also enjoyed Rosewood (Bob Iseminger, Jim Kibben, Dave Gerken), at the Rainbow Party House on 8th St. (where Sonic is now, not to be confused with the Hut Party Store also on 8th, where Black Hills Bagels was later located). I'm most interested in photos. I just joined, so any help locating Black Hills pix on this site would be appreciated.

Old Volks Home, later due to VW brand-protection issues Old Erv's Home, w. part of town, on Sturgis road I believe. In 1970 the motel was probably still the Sands, later La-Z-U.

I didn't grow up there, but my parents lived there and my dad is buried there. I made three visits to them in the 80s. I remember when there wasn't a mall and I remember how happy I was that there was finally a Taco Bell.
That was when my parents lived in Box Elder and it was all just open land then. Now I guess it's been built up quite a bit.
