We use the Kwal Howells colors "Hayseed" and "Botany Beige" in most of our spec houses. We have also used Sherwin Williams colors "Latte" or the "Kilim Beige" that Vicki mentioned and been happy with them.
We had a rash of people about 5 years ago who all wanted the kitchen red. Sherwin Williams' "Roasted Pepper" was the favorite there.
*Edit* That was with warm colored countertops and wood cabinets. Not sure how that would look with all white., it might be TOO bold.
whatever color you decide, you might want to consider using some type of oil paint or epoxy. oil or epoxy paints are durable and hold up well in a cooking environment with cooking oil lingering in the air. a water based paint will break down over time especially with the cleaning products used to keep the area up.
I used to work for a company that use "woolskeen", I think it was Sherwin Williams. It was a warm grayish-brown. Looked horrible on the swatch but it was very nice with white trim.
