I mentioned earlier as a buyer I looked at a house that had no master bathroom door. It was almost part of the "open floor plan" style with a 5' L-shaped wall entry instead of a door.

When I held an open house for another agent, there was a threshold between the living room and kitchen that was unusually high... I think almost everyone who came in tripped over it.

I previewed one house for a client that was on a low budget, so it wasn't in the greatest area. It was vacant, and looked fine when I previewed it during the day. When I went back with the client later in the evening, I turned on the kitchen light and saw a couple dozen cockroaches scurry across the floor. I screamed and jumped onto the counter.

At one time I really thought I had the potential to be a good agent. Unfortunately, my short real estate career may have made a good slapstick comedy series, if nothing else.

It left me with a lot of admiration for Realtors, though.

The strangest thing I have seen was a body lying on the living room floor...... I still don't know of it was dead, drunk. drugged or just sleeping. I wasn't sticking around to find out.

I was showing a client some rundown multi units and had picked up keys for a supposedly vacant to look at. We get there and I try the key and it won't work. I try a couple more times probably making a good bit of noise. We start looking around the outside and though the windows it is indeed vacant. Until I look though the living room window and saw the body lying there not moving. My buyer was pretty creeped out too. We just drove back to the property managers office and dropped of the keys telling the they might want to send the police out there to pick up the body. I'm so glad the key did not work we would have walking right into the scene.

I finally found my buyer a nice four unit complex in a much better area.

As a buyer I saw one house with piles of dirty smelly clothes on every bedroom floor. I wanted a respirator!

I went to preview a new listing. Million dollar+ property.

Every room was pink. Floors, walls, furniture. Only ceilings were white.

Everyroom contained lifesized "Chuckie" dolls!!!!!!!!!! Boy dolls, girl dolls... all hair colors, different outfits.. baby "Chuckies" toddler "Chuckies" 5 ft "Chuckies"..all with that evil "Chuckie" face.

Give me cockroaches and mice any day!

My brother tells me all the time a story about when he was looking for a house. He walked into the bathroom and found a bowel movement in the toilet at a vacant house.

Here's a funny story that I read on some blog. It was an article about why it's a bad idea to use lockboxes. Anyway here's the short version . . . an agent's parents build homes. One day there is a story on the news about a lot of break ins around the area where his parents have a newly built home on the market. He calls them and they decide to go over and check on the house. They get there and the key isn't in the lockbox. They start looking around and everything looks fine until they go into one of the bathrooms and find a local agent using it. Really? This guy can't go to Starbucks or McDonalds and use the bathroom?

Recently while bringing buyers around we went into a house that the selling agent couldn't make it to show but there was a lockbox so we went in. While checking the place out, what is that lump on the couch? Oh it's a fat guy sleeping. The owner we guessed. We think the agent forgot to tell him we would be coming in. We did a quick look around and left him to his beauty sleep.
My wife who is also my business partner went to show a condo which she knew was rented but what a mess of boxes floor to ceiling, the place was like a flop house with 3 people living there that were inbetween a permanent home.
I was going into a upside down house under construction and I needed to go all the way to the back corner of the basement to the fuse panel to turn on lights, it was pretty dark in there but I could just barely see to make my way through the maze of studs and debri. I saw a lump and gave it a little kick with my foot as I passed by and it muttered and moved. Turned out a homeless guy had gotten in. I was now stuck in a narrow corridor with this guy that I had just woken up, I turned the lights on. I was scared but firmly told him he can't be there, he was polite about it said he was sorry. He really gave me a fright though.
I like the real estate business, you never know what you will find.

I once went into a house with a flipper and this house was in the worst shape of any home I've ever been in. There was a huge hole in the kitchen ceiling, the door had been replaced by a wooden board with a padlock, there was graffiti inside, etc, etc, etc. The funniest thing was that in one of the bedrooms a window had been left open so long a vine had grown inside through the window and onto the bedroom wall. I left that house picking bugs out of my hair. Yuck!

Several...

Full basement with a grow set up... lights, irrigation, ventilation, etc...

Another was advertised as a fixer... the bathtub had actually fallen through the floor... adds a new connotation every time I hear the phrase, "Sunken Tub"

Another was very strange... the lady of the house was walking around topless and told us not to pay her any attention
