Hi! I just recently got my real estate and I am trying to find the best place to work. Obviously right now I only have classroom experience and no actual on the job training. I live in Clayton, NC. I have called several places already and am having trouble getting anyone to call me back. I did hear back from one company but they said they didn't really have a program for newly licensed realtors. I don't know if I am not coming across the right way on the phone? I will admit I haven't had to interview in a long time and am definitely a little rusty! If anyone works for a great company or knows of a company that you think would be a great fit I am all ears! I know it will be a lot of hard work and I will need to put a lot of time in, I just don't know where to start! I am eager to start networking and letting friends and family know I am here to help them if they need it but I need a company to work for first. Thanks so much for any help you may have!!
It can be tough in a rural area to find a firm that is large enough to offer comprehensive training.
If you call Keller Williams in Cary, they will talk to you. And they have solid training, one of the best KW Market Centers in the area. It is a bit of a stretch for you, but we had a few Clayton agents when I was there.
All I will say is that the wash out rate of rookies joining a RE/MAX is lower than the washout rate of any national brand accepting rookies. If you are going into business, join RE/MAX, if you want to be effectively an employee on a team, join KW or maybe another office with a team emphasis. (This is not a slam of KW, but rather a fact you need to understand while matching your personality to the opportunity you are looking for.) There are four RE/MAX brokerages that list Clayton as a service area. The most important thing you must know about 90% of all national brand offices is that "each office is independently owned and operated." This means that each office is managed with its own attitudes towards education, marketing, and compensation.
Now, that being said, ALL REAL ESTATE is local. The quality of every real estate office of every brand whether international, national, regional, or local is as variable as the weather. You must interview as many brokers as you can. Whittle down to four or five, re-interview with them. Share what you've been offered by the others with each of the finalists. Learn from them what the real deals are.
Integrity is a must, from you and your future broker. The only way you'll learn who is "telling it as it really is" is to listen and learn. Ask questions, lots of questions.

Might as well get started on your door knocking career early. If an owner/managing partner of an office will not see an agent that colds calls them, run to another office. My advice to you is not pay attention to the "split," that so many focus on, but what that agency can do for you, i.e. leads, training, marketing expenses, etc. It's one thing to have a great split, but get no support and be nickel and dimed for every call or photocopy you make. Good luck and let us know where you wind up.

I disagree on the comment about KW being team oriented. The offices I am familiar with welcome individual agents as well as teams. I am not familiar with the Raleigh offices and, as was mentioned earlier, each office is independently owned and operated. KW has an excellent training program for new agents and would be worth a look.
Also, did you attend a school to get your license? Do they have any resources you could use to help find an agency? Good Luck.
Hi! I'm back and employed-yeah I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice. I got a job with Home Towne Realty. I think I got hung up on trying to get into certain places whose "brochures looked nice" as the saying goes that I was missing some great places. I have already met so many nice and helpful people in this business it is awesome. Now I'm off to work on a webpage!
I am surprised you did not or was not told at SCHOOL that you should start applying for internships or starting as a RE Assistant. That is what I am being told. I was at a school today in rural town and they almost demand that you do this during your schooling so you don't end up with a lic and no job.
You may want to hunt for a RE assistant position first and get work exp. and grow from there. Or you may end up jumping into a pool with no water in it and end up ............................
