Hi Everyone- A new licensee here, I need to invest in a dependable and lightweight laptop to use for listing presentations and all around real estate business. Any opinions? I'm looking at the Hp Pavillion that separate into a tablet and laptop. Please keep under $700 for budget reasons. Any techies have data and processors stats needed? Thanks T

I have an Asus that has served me well and my assistants both have Acers they like very much. I believe it's Asus that has made motherboards for larger companies for a long time even though they aren't a household name. Lenovo is another decent value. Avoid HP and Gateway.

Default my suggestion

I have used a Toshiba laptop bought in 2009 and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Don't buy a display smaller than 15.6 inches.

Default laptop suggestions

New agent looking for recommendations on a lightweight, portable laptop to use in real estate. Not a Mac person, and must be under $700. Brand names, or just spec. requirements welcome. Thanks

My laptop is on the way out. I'm thinking next I might get one of those models where the screen detaches and becomes a tablet. I think I saw one where as a PC it runs windows but when used as a tablet it runs android which would be an ideal combination for me.

I do a lot of my own photo editing and I'm thinking of getting into video as well so I need a more powerful computer than the average agent.

Get a tablet. Even here in the backwoods, a lot of agents use tablets.

When I am on the road, I take my Nexus 7 tablet and use my Samsung S4 as a hotspot for a wifi connection. Screen is big enough to be useful IMHO.

Many MLS systems dont work on tablets. Unfortunately, typical clueless web designers dont know how to code and it requires internet explorer. Its like your mechanic telling you he cant work on your nissan because he doesnt have metric wrenches.

Then there is the issue of loading photos from a good camera and scanning documents.

A regular windows laptop would be the best bet. You can find an Dell i3 for $399
