Dear All,

I would like to start by writing a brief statement about myself and would appreciate any input on what course of action you believe I should take.

I am a Kuwaiti (Middle East) 25 years old with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration majoring in Finance.

I have been working in an investment company for the past 2 years in the International Real Estate Division, investing in US, UK, and Europe.

My family has been in the Kuwaiti real estate market since the 60's and me being in this company is just to get an exposure to the international real estate, i.e. to add value for my family's business when I feel I had enough experience.

So far the experience has been moderately good, but as our scope of business is quite defined and tight, I don't feel like I am getting as much as possible.

Having said that, I am also pursuing getting a designation in Real Estate Appraisal/Valuation, since I probably won't be working outside of Kuwait but would be need the experience of international investments and appraisals/valuations, what designations do you believe would suit me best? (I am currently looking at MAI & RICS)

Should I pursue an academic path like taking a Master's degree in RE?

The point of all of this for both getting ahead of my local piers and being able to valuate properties internationally for our own family business (I realize the world is a big place with different laws and regulatory).

Your feedback is much appreciated!

There are very few appraisers that actually participate in this forum. Might I suggest that you post exactly what you wrote above at the following website?

www.appraisersforum.com

Look for the "Ask an Appraiser" sub-forum on that website.

Good luck in your endeavors.
