I am interested in getting licensed in Colorado but need to know if it's possible to work for a broker on a very part time basis. Most agencies I've talked with want you to be full time and aggressive.
Is there a broker out there that will let me do this part time from home? I wouldn't need an office or anything.

Real estate is not a part time job. It's also expensive, litigious, and carries a high amount of responsibility for another persons transaction. Honestly, you'd probably do better getting an hourly position somewhere, or working as an assistant or buyers agent for a successul full time agent.
Part timers don't stay involved enough to know the market or current on standards. You would probably be doing clients a disservice as a part time agent and I applaud brokers who don't hire very part time agents just to collect a desk fee. Maybe not what you wanted to hear but it's the truth.
Well, I actually want to get into real estate to start my own business but I need to work for a broker for 2 years, right? So, I'd like to work for this broker, give them the cut they want off the transactions I do.. (one being the house that we will buy when we move to Denver this spring) and then I'll move on and do my own thing after 2 years. So there is no one in Denver that will let me hang my out for the 2 years?
I had no problem finding agencies here in AZ that allow part time agents.

What business do you want to start that requires a real estate license? I think I can guess but I'll wait for you tell me.
When I started in Denver in 1989, my broker made me quit my day job. It makes you hungry, and available to take out clients and for training.
How do you plan on juggling two jobs? I know of a few that do it successfully, but real estate has a high cost and a high turnover. Teachers come to mind.
You also will not do enough deals in your two years to gain enough knowledge to make it as a individual broker.
If you can, try to be an assistant to a sucessful broker. You get 400% more on the job training.

You want to work part time until you can open your own RE Brokerage? Would remain part time. I don't think you can learn enough to open your own brokerage as a part time. Real estate isn't exactly a pie job and you just can't learn it part time without heavy hours invested. Chances are you'd be over your head once you opened your own brokerage.
