We had the same problem once we listed the house. When they called I told them we are on the DO NOT CALL list and if they continued to call I would file a complaint. It was really annoying.
My house was listed for 2 hours and I received a solicitation on my cell phone for moving services. My cell phone was the number listed on MLS for agents to call to schedule appts. etc. No one has my cell number except friends/family. My house was listed for 2 hours and I got a solicitation. That's ridiculous. Someone with MLS access is using the MLS inappropriately, in my opinion.
Is your unlisted phone on the do not call list? If not, they will find it. There is software to figure out what neighborhood they want to target, get the numbers, and if they are not on the list, call em up. One after the other.
I have been receiving these as a fsbo - but the number is out there.
No, we value our clients relationship, and that would be very insensative and unprofessional. Many working folks, do anything to find new clients, such as drivebys, and the courthouse records are easy to access. Even unlisted nos, can be found by some. Sorry for your unwanted calls. Just hang up, or tell them not interested, unless you find a deal you can use.
I am not sure about the rules for the MLS there, but here in Idaho, we are prohibited from sharing that type of data. Our MLS has public and agent formats so that when the listings are shared on public sites, data like owner's names, phone numbers, occupancy status, etc., are stripped out of the listing. We do not grant access to any outside vendors except for appraisers.
I would suggest calling the MLS office that handles your region and ask them about their policy on sharing that information and reporting it in case of an abuse.
