Contact your local legal aid or possibly the police and explain the situation

How long is it till your lease will be due? In my area the hosues that are in foreclosure are in that process for a long time before anything else happens. Right now there are tenants in the same horrible situation that you are in and the owners were served with the foreclsoure papers in March and still nothing else has happened, but for sure they won't extend the lease.

The filing of bankruptcy should not have any effect on you at this time, though it may down the road, and probably wouldn't give you cause to break the lease.

You're still on the hook for the lease, however you might pay the bankruptcy referee, instead of the landlord in the future. Filing for bankruptcy and having ones petition approved are 2 very separate things. Until such time as you are notified to send your rent payment somewhere else, you should honor the terms of your lease.
