What year was this in? Since the cell phone, I only go to the office to pick up checks.

1999. I go to the office at least 5 days a week. Do you get walk-ins at home?

Now this is interesting. I don't know any agents who do this outside of new ones who aren't developing their own leads yet. What's your conversion on walk ins for putting in 40 at the office?

I work out of my office and never at home outside of the occasional email/internet update at night. I'm ranked 31 in buyer sides closed this year of 1800 agents in my MLS. Only a couple have been walk-ins but that's not why I come to the office to work. I prefer to have a professional setting around my colleagues. By and large the vast majority of top agents in my market work out of an office.

I meet all new buyers in my office the first time (or one our other branches depending on what side of town). How are you doing since you're challenging those that go into an office to work?

I am having a great year so far both in sales and referrals. My background is outside sales so the same structure you find comforting would feel restrictive to me but it is also interesting to see how people structure their business and the advantages and costs of that structure.

If there was a challenge in my response it would be to the idea that the randomly showing up at an office at 8:30 AM is a good way to choose an agent. Based on your response (Only a couple have been walk-ins but that's not why I come to the office to work. I prefer to have a professional setting around my colleagues) I would say that you might agree with that challenge.

There are a lot of dual career real estate agents, particularly since the market turned. And the cost to maintain a real estate license is manageable. There are many agents that work on a referral basis and still get paid. I'm not sure I said what I meant. Overall, having more than one source of income is a good thing IMO.
