Since you are a professional,could you tell us what a patio home is in comparison to other homes? Are they smaller? On a smaller lot? cookie cutter? Cheaper? Thanks!

Patio homes became popular in the late '70s and early '80s when the cost of mortgage financing was going through the roof, along with real estate values. They typically were designed to be much more affordable, and a small HOA fee covered routine maintenance. Very little to no yards, usually detached from each other, etc.. The "patio" term I think referred to the fact that a patio was about all you had for a back yard.
