1st Post here in the Real Estate Forum..Looking for a reputable agent in my area. Don't really know where to start...Can't say that I know anyone in past couple of years that has sold or brought a house...so it kind of limits my resources....Also it is it possible that the agent can negotiate his/her fee.?

Can you ask friends or coworkers for a referral?

Where is my area?

Ask in your local city forum for a recommendation?

Yes real estate fees are negotiable.

It would help if you posted where you are.

You can also google "real estate blogs your town" and read some local agent blogs. See if anyone jumps out at you. I also recommend that you interview at least three agents. Don't just interview one.

I would also get online at Realtor.com and pull homes that are in your price range (I'd swing within $100,000 to start). Start flipping through the listings. Who has good photos? Who has good descriptions? Start writing down names. When you have some names head to Zillow and Trulia...are there listings on there?

You should interview agents that already do good work, not ones who say they will in a listing presentation. Those are the agents I would interview.

Dan Black, he was one of my instructors when I was starting. He is as fine as agent as I've ever met and is a broker/owner of the ERA there. NC and SC Real Estate - Carolina's Premier Home Broker

Keep in mind with fees you get what you pay for. Anyone who will give away their fee will also give away your money just as easy.

Find someone that has experience, is good at what they do and you'll not be disappointed with quality.
