OK...I think I know what "certificate of forfeiture" means....But can someone explain it in terms that I can understand...Also does that ruin your credit? Please advise?

You should call a real estate attorney or title company that uses real estate attorneys in your area. They'll often answer questions without charging you....you're more likely to use the services of someone who helps without expecting anything in return.
