MJinNC, why are you moving? I would love to live on the coast. But my husband is going to be working in Raleigh. Oh well, maybe I will retire on the coast!
we are just downsizing, kids are off at college. We are looking at some new developments 20 min away. yep the coast is great, perfect weather.

MJ i realized i never answered you regarding your home. southport was one of the towns dh and i were interested in if he found a job in wilmington or further south. it looks like such a wonderful little town. unfortunately so far all the jobs (a total of 3) that dh has interviewed for but grrrr didn't get are in new bern so southport is WAY too far. since the job market for my dh is tiny, tiny when we first decided to move to NC our "area" was anywhere on the coast. we've since narrowed it down to the crystal coast but heck if he got a job in wilmington we'd move south of that. basically we just want to live near the ocean. good luck with the sale of your home.
