OP,
you're the one buying the house, not all the selfrightous "know-it-alls" here on C-D.
keep in mind, that ball bouncing party could be (WILL BE) at all hours of the day or night and there would be nothing you could do about it. Quit apologizing to people who dont matter.

If this thread were a neighborhood, I wouldn't want to live anywhere near it.

If this thread were a neighborhood I'd have already set it on fire for the good of the city.

Oh no the neighborhood children are outside screaming and running around. I ought to call the police on these miscreants!

I could go on.

And basketballs, that noise is hard to ignore and impossible to dampen since much of the "thud" part of the noise is propagated through the ground.
What was your point related to this thread?

I was commenting that I don't find it possible as a parent for a child to be acting "barbaric" with a ball - certainly if they're just <gasp> BOUNCING IT!

Quite amusing... and just so you know - we're not barbaric by letting our kids scream to annoy you. We're just getting a good laugh at your expense.

Every time we look at houses, if we see a basketball hoop right out there permanently cemented into the ground anywhere near the property, we pretty much red flag it.

I hate the sound of a basketball on concrete. Hate.

I'd rather drive up and see the kid next door practicing with his death metal band in the garage.

Seriously.

I agree, meh...the thumping of a basketball is a sound that travels with a deep resonating bass.
As someone whose job has me switching my sleep schedule all over the clock, having to try to sleep through that can be near impossible. No one is saying kids shouldn't be outside playing, but if that is a sound that is going to make you crazy, you're going to have to find somewhere else to buy.
