Heidi60-

The timing of your snarky remark leads me to believe that you are responding to my post about the HOA educational series. If you had bothered to do real research by actually reading the info I cited, you would see that it is a balanced discussion of how to distinguish between healthy and not-so-healthy HOAs.

I gain nothing and lose nothing, whether or not the OP reads my HOA evaluation info. IMO, that position gives more credibility than your "All HOAs are evil, unAmerican conspiracies and it is my realtor's fault that I bought in an HOA community" rant.

Thanks for all the great information.

As for selling and buying: I need to sell my house before i can buy another. With my income, i wouldnt qualify for much of a mortgage. IF i'm going to buy something, i have to have the profit from selling my house that i am in now. I HAVE thought about selling it and just investing - yes - and then renting, but i rented for years and man it just seems like such a waste of money.

I am steering toward a single-family home, small and in-town type - instead of on acreage like i have now. BUT, i dont think i want to list my house yet. I heard that prices have dropped again. This is not good for me selling! But - would be good for me buying... ahhh life lol...

You sound like a really good person and I wish you the best.
I can relate to your situation as we too would like to sell but need to wait. Most of my neighbors in our complex are also waiting to sell so when/if the market picks up, there will be so much competition that prices will be driven down further than they are now with the short sales. At least you have something to sell so count your blessings. Please read the above link I provided so that if you decide to buy a condo, you will do it with your eyes open. We really didn't know what we were getting into at the time which is why I advocate researching all sides to an issue. Best of luck.
