Ignoring that I need to do yardwork (Because it's always that time this time of year) you can see the nuisance it is to get in and out of the garage all the time, especially since I come and go several times a day, and the fact that there are two vehicles usually parked there (my fiancee is at work or the Jeep would be in that muddy spot it magically made for itself). What you don't see, due to my expert (terrible) photography is that past that maple tree on the left is a 65* or so hill.
Also man, that picture reminds me I really REALLY need to repaint the wood on the garage.
Sure, and also to say what we think about what others think.
So why do you park in your driveway? Just curious, no need for a "because it's my house and I can park wherever I please!". No garage? Garage full? Teenage kids?
I thought I mentioned there was no need for the "none of your business" response. No it doesn't matter in the big picture, but in the context of this discussion, the why matters a lot. Like I said, just curious. I like to try and understand others views and the reasons behind them. I realize that puts me in the minority in many situations!
Edit: For the record I couldn't care less where people park, plenty of people do it in my neighborhood. But this is the internet, after all... haven't we all spent time discussing things that don't matter, hypotheticals and what not? It's just a discussion, and nothing to be defensive about. It's more of a "if I had my druthers..." than "goddammit these idiots need to shape up and do what I say!"
I don't mind sharing. I have a two car garage that I have never parked in (granted that is only just over a year since I bought the house). The main reason is the previous owners moved the washer and dryer to the garage and also built a platform for the washer and dryer. But they built the platform so wide and long that you can't fit a car in.
We have plans to cut back on the platform and hopefully use one side of the garage for one of the cars and use the other side for storage/workshop. But it isn't on the top of our list. We still have plenty of boxes from the move we haven't gone through yet. We don't have a basement and the attic is not ideal for storage.
I believe I've already said why I don't park in my garage.
It's detached, and further away from the front or back door than parking on my long driveway. In other words, the garage is less convenient, and I don't share the thinking that a car on a driveway is ugly.
If it's not getting used, it should either be sold, given away, or put in the attic.
I have very little clutter, and I pretty much do exactly what you're saying, but I have to disagree about putting things in the attic. Where I live the only houses with a useable attic are over 100-years-old, and there aren't many of them! But even if we did have attics, I don't see how it's any different to store stuff in an attic or in a garage?
Almost everyone has a least boxes of "stuff" that we rarely use, but we still want to keep it! And who cares if you store it in the attic, or the garage, or under the bed?
