And if all else fails, kill them with kindness! Nothing pisses people like this off more than when you smile and wish them well, even though you're lying like a rug.

This really does depend on the type of people one deals with. With some people this works. With others, they see it as a sign of weakness and become even worse.

I agree. It often inflames people to try harder. I'd just ignore them.

Egads! I would have lost it alot sooner. I also would have involved the cops alot sooner about the creep across the street. Never-the-less, now that you have made your intent to call the police known, stick with it. Ignore them unless they encroach on your property and if you must interact with them, be as polite as possible.

Gina23...unfortunately you let them get their "foot in the door" so to speak, when you let the firewood "theft" slide......ever heard of " givem an inch, and they'll take a mile"?....I can't really think of a way out of the disrespect, and discontent of your neighbours towards you...sorry....all I can think of for you is the wise old words ..Good fences make for good neighbours.

I would have to second bouncethelight's advice. It's easier said than done, but be cool, be calm, be courteous, and enforce your boundaries.

If the harassment keeps up, keep a log of what happened and video from your security system. If it ever becomes an law enforcement issue, you want to point to specific instances of crimes actually being committed, as opposed to recalling from memory. It's probably a good idea to lock your doors and have your property tagged, in case it grows feet and makes its way to your neighbor's.

I would add that you probably don't want to give neighbors any ammunition against you either. A 'No Trespassing' sign will do that. It gives a very negative first impression, and in my experience, they are never effective. If it is an option for you, I would suggest replacing those fence doors with actual fence panels. I know you said you put locks on the doors, but consider that your neighbors may think that you are accessing their property, but locking them out of yours.

There is another side to this.

How many neighbors does it take to think someone is the neighborhood wierdo and be correct, even when the wierdo does not think they might just be the wierdo?

As in I am not paranoid because I "know" everyone is after me.

Everyone sounds weird, even the original poster. LOL.

If you have a problem with the man still, you could get a restraining order. As for the other people who tease you, well, thats life.

If I were in a neighborhood where I felt security cameras were necessary I would move.
