Hi everyone, here is my situation. I and my wife have a present mortgage of $102,000 and a 2nd mortgage of $28,000. I have been diagnosed with a degenerative disease called Aracnoiditis. It causes a great deal of difficulty in trying to walk etc. we own a 2 Tri-Level home atop a steep hill, and it has become a nightmare to manuver around my own house daily. We would like to purchase another house that would be more conducive to my everyday needs. We saw a house around the corner that is to make my life a lot easier and it only costs $46,900. We are prepared to pay $15,000 down on another home at that price, can our credit my top credit score is 687 and spouse is 598 allow us to purchase another home and sell or walk away from the present mortgage. Our present lender keeps jacking us around on a modification. Thanks in advance for any feedback

It might be difficult for your wife to qualify with you, but you could possibly qualify alone with the down payment that you have. If your income can support both payments on both houses at the same time, it shouldn't be a problem. You'll NEED to qualify for both mortgage payments, or you won't be able to purchase the other home. Have you considered asking for owner financing on that other home?

Good luck with everything. Sad to hear about your diagnosis.
