Has anyone had a similar experience with this issue? I'm buying a short sale condo in Miami, FL. Legally the condo is Miami. But it shares a zip code with Coconut Grove. The problem is that the current mortgage lender has the the condo listed as Coconut Grove and my lending bank has it listed as Miami. My bank is correct and won't list Coconut Grove as the city on the HUD. But the current bank wants the HUD changed so it reflects Coconut Grove. So they are fighting over which bank has to correct the situation. I don't know if this is going to result in more delays in closing (I was supposed to close 5 days ago). Stressed isn't the word for how I feel at this point!
Looking forward to hearing from you guys...Thanks!

There are a few places in my area where the rural postal route comes out of one town so it has that town's mailing address, the building department calls it another town and the locals call it by a third name.
Confusing? Absolutely!
I had a bank owned property where the homeowner put a mailbox up on the main road and put that number on his house. The bank actually foreclosed on his mailbox! That was fun trying to put that one back together.
In places where recording is by town and not by county, it is imperative to have all documents with the actual location and not the mailing address. However, if HUD requires the mailing address, it needs to clearly state both addresses in this situation.

When I lived in Oklahoma, our house was within the Oklahoma City limits but our mailing address (zip code) and school district were both Edmond. Left over from before the area was annexed by OKC.
Hi and thanks for your replies! I'm happy to report that they came up with a solution. They are using "Coconut Grove also known as Miami" on the HUD. As long as it's legal and we can proceed, that works for me!
We expect to get the clear to close tomorrow and hopefully close by Tuesday!
