If we can't sell by spring our agent has suggested leasing out the house but I'm not sure I want to do that. Seems there would be lots of headaches involved especially since we're moving out of sate.
We'll see. In the mean time hang in there...they all eventually sell. Right?
Yes, please don't believe that renting/leasing out your home will be the end all to cure all. There are plenty of headaches and things that could go wrong.

At a minimum, no one should be purchasing w/o selling their own home first. If you do, you are looking for trouble.

Not really true. We plan on saving our money so that we can afford to buy a bigger house (3 bedroom). I live in MA so the houses are not as low in price as some locations in the country. We are trying to sell our condo and then rent for a while. We didn't want to be in a position of trying to sell and BUY at the same time and have it happen that the person buying can't sell their house....domino effect...which could happen anyway, but we won't be responsible for two mortgages if that happens. The place that we are going to rent is tenancy at will so we can rent just about any time! Thank goodness for that!

We had also been on the market since May. We found a couple who wanted to buy over the summer, but they had a house to sell. We didn't have much of a choice, but ended up accepting their offer. We just went into contract last week. There is finally light at the end of the tunnel. I would just say lower your price just to get out because the stress is not worth it and you lose in the long run.
