OK, on my kitchen counter (it's the natural spot for people to stop at in my open floor plan home), I have a page of information about average utility bills, etc. I put a small CD player there beside it , like this:
When they hit the red button, this is what comes on:
At Last my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Ohh yeah yeah
At Last the skies above are blue
My heart as wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you
I found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Ohh yeah yeah…
You smile, you smile
And then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine At Last

Am I crazy to do this? I do have a sort of "out there" sense of humor and creativity, so I have to apply a filter sometimes! LOL
(I live in a small southern town, and real estate is a pretty casual bidness around here.)
Really depends on your target. If you admit your sense of humor is kind of "fringe" then I would probably note that more folks are gonna care about other stuff like how nice a master bath you have ...
I think in the more "value priced" range you can scare off buyers with too much silliness -- they want bang for the buck!
In the "move up" neighborhoods buyers get very status conscience too and this approach is not real smart...
If you hired your agent becuae you value their knowledge and experience please rely on their instincts for this kind of thing.
Anyone who doesn't...well, I am not sure I even want them to buy my house...
OK, seriously - I did think the song was classic enough not to offend anyone and to bring a smile to a buyer's face! May as well set a good mood, right?
I do have the volume tuned very moderately however. And the rest of the CD is just as good (old classic songs like At Last by original artists) in case they leave it on!
I love your posts, Kathryn. I love your approach to life and your sense of humor.
When it comes to house-hunting, though, I am all business. I don't like gimmicks, and I don't like distractions.
Just keep it simple, and don't make your house stand out for the wrong reasons.
I hope it sells quickly! It looks like a great house.
