I was hoping to get some advice. We are buying a brand new house outside of Atlanta and the Owner's Title Insurance is optional. Our realtor is really pushing for us to get it, but we didn't have it in our last home and just aren't sure. It will be a little over $700. Anyone have a strong opinion on this? Thanks!
For ANY home you need to get Owner's Title. Good advice from your agent. Make sure you get an enhanced policy....we refer to them here as an "Eagle" policy, might be different in ATL. Has higher level of coverage.

Not sure, but First American Title owns the "Eagle Policy" trademark.
For the OP; Especially in new construction you need title insurance, just to make sure the builder has paid all his subcontractors and hasn't "alienated" your particular lot with any subsequent mortgages and that the original lender has released the deed on your particular lot.

Not sure if they do or not, that is just what we refer to them as, more "slang"....our contract reads "enhanced owner's title insurance policy and binder".
YES! And you should try to get the Seller to pay for it as a condition of the sale.
That is always a negotiable item but such contingencies are not common in my market, especially if the home is a short sale or foreclosure.
