We already take the national portion of the test. Who says we can't have a national license and a state issued one?

All fifty states? And, are you going to tell me that the various state exams (national and/or state portions) cover all the laws and prepare you to deal in real estate?

And, the tests (national) vary now from state to state

No, a National license will not, nor should not happen.

If this is still about a national MLS, I think realtor.com should run it. That way we definitely have the lowest possible common denominator. Hmmmm what a quandary, My local MLS or Realtor.com. I think I'll go out and stab myself repeatedly with my letter opener.

Ahhh yes, that's much better

I must disagree about Realtordotcom. Their database is a mess and redundant.

I think the comment was meant to be facetious.
And I thought it succeeded.

I mean... I agree with you.

I think you could easily add a "spew alert" title.

For the consumer, realtor.com is probaly the closest thiong to a national MLS. Most of my military clients use it in searching for homes at their next duty station. Unfortunately our MLS, the Northwest MLS, just pulled all their listings from realtor.com and will no longer upload future listings. It's a definite upset to all of us agents who pay realtor.com to feature our listings as showcase listings.

North Texas has 247 fields for single family homes most others average between 80-95. Can you imagine what it would take to get that many Realtors to agree on which of those important fields would be included?! We have 18 associations participating in our MLS today and we take at least 60 days to move anything forward! Not such a happy thought perhaps? Maybe remember that our real job is in the middle of the transaction. The knowing what to do when everything blows up and how to negotiate and where to find buyers for those hard to sell properties.
