There are two floor drains outside the basement door that are connected to the sewer main (raw septic came out of them the last time the line clogged). I don't know about a floor drain inside. This place has been a condo since '86 so there were a few owners before me. If there was a floor drain inside of my unit it was either covered by tile or the vinyl flooring in my bedrooms downstairs.

Well, it just doesn't sound like you guys really need to tear up all the pipes to me.

I suppose, though, if you can afford it and all your neighbors are on board, this would be the time to get it done. If/when it needed to be done in the future, you might by then have a neighbor who would not be cooperative. That'd be the only reason I'd go ahead and do it now.

I just really feel like this new video taping of the pipes is very conducive to plumbing scams. I bet most pipes have some kind of roots or cracks in them, and they can go on like that for a long, long, long time.

But, congrats on having cooperative neighbors. That truly is a wonderful thing.

Well I saw all the financials before I bought the place. It seems like everyone can absorb some decent maintenance every now and then. You should have seen the spread of food my upstairs neighbor set up when we had the meeting in her unit. Chocolate chip cookies, chips, beer, water!

I am really blessed to have found such a good place filled with good people in a good area. I know it's different compared to living with my parents (central air, gas heat), but it's my own place now. I can't expect to afford what my parents have when I am half their age.

It's a good start though.
