Hello all, just an update. We never heard back from the sellers. Listing agent said the owners were unavailable and just traveling. However, we continued to view other properties all weekend and this specific condo is still our first choice and we decided it was, in fact, at close to market value at listing price. We have resubmitted another offer that is only $5K below asking ($15K over the sale price of the better same unit in July).
Keep your fingers crossed for us. We want this place.
I was the seller, upon receiving your second lowball offer I would have stopped communication and told my realtor not to bring any more crap offers to me.
It sounds like your choice to offer 5k under asking will probably result in solid negotiations leading to a sale/purchase.
our offer was accepted and we are under contract. So we are paying $15K more than the unit above us paid just 7 months ago. Oh well.
Congratulations. But now you sound disappointed at the amount you agreed to pay, perhaps a little hastily. But don't be disappointed--because it won't help anything. I hope it works out for you.

You can't think of it that way and plus a lot happens in 7 months. The market is coming back as you experienced yourself. You also viewed other property and came back to this one and felt it was worth paying for it. Keep that in mind.

Check back in seven months. Hope you'll be telling us that the unit below you sold for $15,000 more than yours. In the meantime, enjoy your new place.
