That would be for the front yard, we're talking about the back of the house.

It also depends on the size of the yard. We have ten acres but only use about four. The rest is treed for the wildlife.

The front yard is small, about half an acre. It has a large flowerbed on a side hill and the rest is grass and a driveway.

The back has a fenced pasture for the horses, a large barn and attached workshop for projects.

Only do what you have time to maintain. How many hours of your Saturday do you want to spend working on the yard? If you don't enjoy those things keep it empty. Just grass, no trees, no bushes, no flowers.

If money is no object do whatever you think looks good and pay to have it maintained.

Unless you have a nice seating area, you won't get much use out of it.

I have a two seater swing in front of a fire pit which I really enjoy (and I have lots of trees so I always have wood to burn). I have a deck I NEVER use, a clothesline I use weekly, and a screen porch I use once in a while.

I do enjoy yard work but I realize that is something I choose to do. i could choose otherwise. If you don't like it, don't do it.

Build a patio
Morning coffee on the patio
Cocktails on the patio
Dinner on the patio
After dinner drinks on the patio

In the old days, we would all go out to the yard at 7pm. The adults would drink beer and the kids would get an ice cream. We would all listen to the Red Sox game on the radio.

Hey, it's an excuse to have more adult beverages to speed up the process
