tnff, you're late to the party. Since the contract fell through, she's going to rent the house out now. Of course, that will undoubtedly result in new updating that has to be done to the house when it again goes on the market, both from delayed upgrades and new damages from tenants. But what the heck, that will be a new thread.
My family owns and manages rentals so I am not completely new to being a landlord.
Renting is probably a better deal for me financially.
Could you not sign over the home to the people you owe money to? Let them rent it out since they already own and manage rentals? Sounds like a good solution in this headache.

Um no, I am sure the mortgage company would not be ok with that. However my parents are fine with me managing it and paying them monthly.
You indicated in your other thread that if you didn't get a contract in a couple of weeks and rented the house, you would get a property manager, especially since you are so busy with your kids and work. Also, your ex-husband was stalking you in your old neighborhood. It really doesn't seem prudent for you to manage this house as a rental personally, considering those circumstances. Plus, you indicated that you would still have a positive cash flow monthly even with a property manager. The cost of the property manager is also a factor to be considered in rental expenses, so that's actually as plus - whereas your labor is not.

Yep, I know, but same reality next time around. Or this time since even as a rental, repairs will still have to be made.
I gotta say, Lowonluck is a very thick-skinned individual. The entire thread turns into an attack on her and her drama and she just takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

She'll be back, don't you worry about her. Look for her next thread: My renters are ____**__, why does this always happen to me?
