I currently live in a 100+ year old house - it doesn't bother me

It wouldn't bother me, but I would not buy the house because I would not want to deal with trying to sell it later.

Not for a heat beat. Grow up.

It's not that this woman died in her sleep. It's the age of the home. Old homes are for the most part money pits. Plumbing needs to be up dated , electrical, insulation, appliances, old homes usually have small closets and bathrooms. One bath? Forget it!

Even in states that require disclosure there is a time limit, such as within the last 3 years. This would mean that anything before that is not necessary to be disclosed, unless the house carries a stigma from say a mass murder or something.

I wouldn't have a problem with buying a house where someone died naturally of illness or old age. Mass murder or suicide would make me think differently. If you live in a close knit community, people never forget. Houses get stigmas of old man whoever shot his wife there in the hallway and hung his kid from the chandelier. I'd also hate to think that a house has such a depressing vibe that someone felt it was ok kill someone or take their own life there.

We rented a house from a man several years ago. I knew in renting it, at least one person had probably died there because the man had inherited it from his parents. It didn't bother me. I thought it was funny that another neighbor came over while we were loading the moving truck to move out. She asked me if I had seen any ghosts and told me the owner's mother had passed away in the master bedroom. I'm not a believer in ghosts, but if there was one, she was a happy ghost. I never felt much other than peace and happiness in that house.

It wouldn't bother me.....Back in the 70's. a friend bought a house where an old guy lived his whole life (he died on the porch) and one day about 5 years later while sanding, he found $20K under a loose floorboard....

Doesn't bother me at all. Everyone dies. The lucky ones die at home in their sleep.

Now, a murder or suicide might give me pause.
