We painted overall a beigy/latte but accented rooms with deep red, brown, blue, a tuscan yellowy (while still tasteful) in the basement. It all complemented our flooring choices and I am definitely not paintingn when we move. I for one, love a home that is tastefully done with color. I know there are buyers that like it too.
I love to watch Designed to Sell and the other programs and think they are very wise with their color schemes although it is not always my taste, but great for selling. I do love the natural colors. To watch these programs you can save the $ 100- and buy paint instead.

Paint it how you want but make sure the colors coordinate. I walked into a home with some buyers the other day with one tangerine colored wall. It looked fantastic. Buyers can look at a well decorated home, even when it's not to their taste, and get past the colors. It's when the home is not well coordinated that many are unable to see the potential.

Great replies... I look forward to painting one room at a time just to get some color in here. Another poster hit the nail on the head; you cannot appreciate the detail of the interior when everything is the same color. We're fortunate that every carpet in the house is a neutral beige, so picking colors shouldn't be too hard.
