Around here, you can date a neighborhood by the predominant style of architecture. The 1940s and 50s had ranches. The 60s and 70s had split-levels.

What style of architecture is this called? It seems like it's going to define the 2010s.

It's a new build, but I wouldn't call it contemporary. It's grand but at 2700 sq ft it doesn't really strikes me as a McMansion. I don't like the asymmetrical, layered facade look, but I'm wondering how I would describe it to someone else. As in, "I don't like ____ style homes."

It is "The Spencer, a stately 8 room colonial"

It is a gable roof tract house with an unimpressive street presence.
Not the worst of this style.

That style is everywhere in Raleigh area. 90 degree front facing gables, as many as possible, primarily in houses of around 2500 sq ft. It is getting a little monotonous. Larger homes might have something similar, but with clipped gables. And of course all painted with muddy colors.

It's definitely a mcmansion. In fact, I looked at it and thought it was at least 10 years old. So, it's already starting to look dated and it's brand new. BTW, are you familiar with Millis? It's a REALLY quiet place to live. Also, terrible location for commuting.
