I find it annoying that they are staged.

Do you prefer the places be staged or not?

If you are selling - absolutely. If you are buying, a sloppy home without any major defects may be your best friend when it comes to making an offer. In fact, homes with terrible paint jobs and large furniture are almost always dismissed by first time homebuyers; whereas they fall in love with the furniture of a staging company that is not included in the sale. Only issue is that it's tough to inspect all aspects of cluttered homes.

Some like it. Most don't care.

Doesn't matter to me, either way is fine, for the seller small spaces are better off staged.

I don't care one way or the other. I am not buying the furniture so I don't look at it.

I do, however, notice if the furnishing is all with smaller than normal pieces to hide the fact that the rooms are small size.

staging is another money making gimmick. dont let real estate brokers kid you
we never had it before HGTV, and homes sold just fine

how hard is it to imagine a room full of furniture.
couch goes here, TV goes there, isnt really rocket science.
bed goes there, dresser goes there, really?????

I prefer to see homes without anything in them.
When I see big pieces of furniture up against walls, it makes me wonder if there's anything going on behind them.
But more importantly, I'm not distracted by somebody else's stuff.

I am horrible at looking at an unfurnished house and trying to picture my furniture in it and whether it will fit. I've learned to bring a tape measure with me.

Most real estate agents will make the staging pitch because it's no money out of their pocket only yours. Next time agent tells you staging is a good idea, tell them OK go for it but on your dime. Then watch how quickly they change their mind.

What matters is a clean and clutter-free house. Put your money there.

Seller agents SHOULD invest on stage furnitures and fixtures. It's not a recurring expense but something they will get good return on for a long time.
