I just thought it was a bit odd that an agent would say something like that. I am all for personal protection. Lets face it a single female agent has reason to be careful. You can be a 20th level black belt or carrying a firearm, I could care less. I see no reason to mention it to the client, especially in the context of saying "I don't know you so I am carrying pepper spray.
Maybe OP was getting belligerent because they were not given a liter-a-cola
Most agents offer bottled water here in Florida. Actually the agent was not very good in terms of showing us the properties we requested and we wasted 2 days with her. We only wound up seeing 2 of the 7-8 properties on our list. The pepper spray remark had nothing to do with it.

Maybe they felt bad about it and rather than saving it for later decided to tell you now.
Is the issue that they told you, you don't trust them, or something else?
There have been a few agents killed. Especially women agents. I can’t say that I blame the agents for having some self defense tactic.
Exactly - I recall an agent being killed back when I lived in Port Orange, FL near Daytona around 1990. As a woman I would be leery about taking a complete stranger out to look at a house especially if it is in a remote location. I know some Real Estate companies make a copy of the buyer's license these days.

Yes, there are predators out there.
But, I think I would not gratuitously divulge to anyone whether or not I was carrying pepper spray, or a gun, unless the need to use them arose.
There are 2 reasons I don't believe this story. #1 the above. If you have to say this is a true story it most likely isn't. #2 this person started a new thread asking if a disclosure has to be made is someone was killed in a house and then said their father bought a home with bullet holes and blood on the walls.

They are both true stories. Whether you choose to believe them is your prerogative. Just because I said something was true means it isn't? I did not ask the agent if they were carrying pepper spray they volunteered it.
