Does anyone have any info on the plans to revitalize downtown Tucker? I came across a website for a Living Center Initiative study being done by the Atlanta Regional Commision but haven't heard or seen anything else about it. It would be wonderful if Tucker could become the next Decatur..a once dormant area that is now flourishing.

MODS, this should be moved to the Atlanta forum.

postprime, as it happens I just e-mailed the Tucker LCI people about the status of the project last week. Here's the response that I got:

Our streetscape plan has been approved by GA Dept of Transportation
finally. DeKalb County is currently with Georgia Power and MTA on a
design for utilities and funding. Once the plan has been devised, a
request for proposal will be sent out by DeKalb County for contractors
to bid. Once this process has been completed and a bid accepted, we
will begin the work. Hopefully we will begin sometime this year.

Thats great news! Thanks for the info. I'm going to see about getting involved in the effort to to make this happen. Tucker becoming the next Decatur might be a stretch but at least it might become the next Historic Norcross!

If they can get the LCI going, I have great hopes for Tucker. I really think it's poised on the brink of becoming a very popular neighborhood.

I agree..mainly because of the spillover from Decatur. I have noticed road work on Lavista Rd. near Nlake Mall. I wonder if that area will see needed revitalization. I dont understand why it has been stagnant considering the number of high priced neighborhoods within a few miles of the mall.
