Looking at redoing the floor in our master bedroom. I want hardwood floors, spouse wants carpet. Any thoughts on what would be better down the road if we ever sell the house??? What do most buyers prefer to have?

I usually say carpet in the bedrooms.
Tile or wood in all other areas.

Of course you may put carpet in and have someone come through that wants wood.

If you are not looking to sell any time soon put in what you want.

Is your floor cold in the morning? Ever? I'm too lazy to find my slippers at night if I have to go to the bathroom.

I'd go with carpet. There's actually another reason why....ermm...'cuz the coldness of wooden floors can creep through a blanket and make your back cold.
I'll say no more.

Love....exciting and new...come aboard....we're expecting you.....Oh god! This floor is COLD....

For me, I'd love wood but don't think you can go wrong if you put in a nice carpet. Personally I think wood looks more high-end.

I'm a carpet person. I hate hard surface floors anywhere in a house.

We put hardwoods in our entire house. Hubby has asthma, and I think carpet is gross (you ever seen what comes up when they clean carpet??)...You do need a large area rug to keep your feet warm when you step out of bed.

I do agree that most people prefer carpet in their bedrooms, and hardwoods everywhere else. I would do what you want.

Nice hardwoods definitely make a home "richer" looking, however I do prefer carpet in the bedrooms.

No right or wrong answer I believe, everyone has their personal preference.

I think hardwood is better for resale, but prefer carpet. We have hardwood in our whole house and carpeted over them in the bedrooms and have area rugs in the other rooms.

My gut reaction is that it depends on what price point your house is. For instance, new vinyl siding is a "plus" on mid to lower-end homes, but for a lot of buyers with more to spend, vinyl is a deal breaker.

I don't think carpet vs. wood would ever be a deal breaker, but if there are homes in your neighborhood that resemble yours-- take a look at the nice ones on open house day and see if they're using carpet or wood. If you're really concerned about resale, that would be the best way to assess it.

Oh yeah, carpet IS gross. Its a dust magnet, especially UNDER the beds
which are hard to vacume under. Wood is best all around and everywhere
except baths. JMO
